Sports Masterclass Day 2009
Every year at Benfield School we have an annual event which we call Sports Masterclass Day where we give the pupils the opportunity to participate in four different sports, many of which we are unable to deliver as part of the curriculum. The day also emphasises the important sporting principles of fairplay, team work and healthy living. This year’s event took place in July and the pupils chose from an extensive list of 30 sports which included; Ice Skating, Rock Climbing, Aqua Knockout, Mountain Biking, Archery, Athletics, Tchoukball, Trampoline and various forms of dance. The day was a huge success and was enjoyed by our pupils as well as pupils from our feeder schools. More photos from Sports Masterclass Day are in the Gallery

ENLARGE - Leadership Weekend
Leadership Weekend
A group of eighteen sports leaders were selected to take part in the leadership residential to the Cheviots. The trip was a great opportunity for students to push themselves past their normal boundaries. Activities undertaken included hill walking, building their own shelter for the night, rock climbing, abseiling and numerous team building and problem solving activities. All participants thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Students felt a sense of personal growth and success as a result of their achievements.
Colours Evening 2009
Colours Evening is our annual sports presentation night when we award pupils who have represented the school, county or country in a competitive sport. We also award “colours” to our Sports Leaders for organising and running clubs within school and the local community. This year we had four sporting stars to present awards and trophies to the pupils; commonwealth swimmer Adam Whitehead, Paralympic gold medal winner Stephen Miller, Gladiators “Amazon” aka Dr Zoe Williams and the our most prestigious guest of honour to date Jack Charlton OBE. The night was a huge success and was enjoyed by pupils, parents, staff and our guests of honour. Zoe commented “It was a real pleasure to be involved in such a positive and rewarding evening, the pupils were all wonderful, polite and well-mannered and their behaviour and sporting achievements make them a real credit to the school and the community” There are more photos from Colours Evening in the Gallery
